Requena. The native communities of Monte Alegre and Yarina Frontera Topal, located in the province of Requena in the Loreto region, obtained approval to access the payment of compensation of fines, this as a result of the sanction granted by the Agency for the Supervision of Resources Forestry - OSINFOR for the inappropriate use of forest resources.
The fines imposed will be compensated through a forest conservation plan for a period of 5 years and includes the delimitation of trails or installation of milestones, the installation of signs for adequate signaling, maintenance of boundaries, formation of control brigades and surveillance and training.

In this way, the communities will also contribute to the conservation of the forest heritage and will repay their debts with the State. The Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous, since 2018, provided technical assistance so that these communities could access this mechanism. This activity was developed within the framework of the project “Building Durable Conservation Areas and Strengthening the Governance of the Yavari-Samiria Mosaic” funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
