Iquitos. In order to strengthen joint management between native communities and the Regional Government of Loreto (GOREL), a workshop was held for officials and workers of the Regional Management of Indigenous Affairs (GRAI), the Regional Directorate of Agriculture ( DRAL) and the Matsés National Reserve -SERNANP (National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State).
At the meeting, each institution addressed different topics. The DRAL spoke about the importance of physical and legal sanitation of communal territories to strengthen territorial security. SERNANP explained about the co-management of Protected Natural Areas and the ARA about Regional Conservation Areas. Both institutions mentioned the importance of community support for the proper management of these natural areas. Likewise, improvements in the joint work strategy were discussed, within the framework of the work plan maintained by these institutions.
The workshop was held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the GOREL facilities, in the city of Iquitos, and had the support of the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA).
