Establishment of a new protected area for the conservation of the Varíllales Arena Blanca ecosystem between the Tapiche and Blanco rivers, Loreto, Peru
General objective:
Formally protect a representative amount of the Varíllales Arena Blanca ecosystem with the establishment of two Regional Conservation Areas and provide the legal conditions that contribute to its long-term stability.
Line of action:
Creation of two regional conservation areas for the protection of fragile ecosystems Varíllales Arena Blanca south of Loreto.
Financing:
We have the financing of Andes Amazon Fund.
Beneficiaries:
- 9 Native Communities –Nuevo Capanahua, Lobo Santa Rocino, Spain, Frontera, Palmera del Tapiche, Wicungo, Yarina Frontera Topal, Monte Alegre and Nuestra Señora de Fátima- and 5 Peasant Communities –Pacasmayo, Canchalagua, Morales Bermudez, Puerto Ángel and San Pedro - in the Tapiche and Blanco river basin.
- Federation of the Communities of the Tapiche and Blanco Rivers (FECORITAYB)
- Association 5 Unidos del Ucayali that integrates 5 peasant communities -Nuevo Isla Banos, Nuevo Encanto de Suni, Monte de los Olivos, Canelos, Alto Perillo- and 2 Native Communities -Nuevo Canchahuaya and Alfonso Ugarte-.
- New ACR Varíllales de Arenas Blancas Tapiche - Blanco and ACR Aguas Calientes Maquia
- Natural Resources of the Project area.
