Last week, Ing. Hildebrando Collantes Zegarra, in charge of the Native Communities Office of the Ucayali Regional Agrarian Sector Directorate (DRSAU), handed over the property title to the native Ashaninka community Sol del Oriente, located in the Mazarai river basin. , Callería District, Coronel Portillo Province in Ucayali.
The community began applying for a degree in 2005. Subsequently, the work at the DRAU was paused for approximately 10 years and continued as a result of the agreement established by said entity with the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA) in the year 2015.
The community had previously obtained its recognition, for which CEDIA contributed to successfully carrying out the process of physical and legal sanitation of its territory, strengthened the capacities of community members in community organization, and provided technical assistance to the DRAU. . The field work to update its sanitation file was carried out in November 2015 and the request was attended within the framework of the agreement in that month. The Sol del Oriente native community obtained its titling resolution through Regional Director Resolution 571-2016-DRU-DRA.
This community was able to obtain its property title because it did not overlap with a Permanent Production Forest (BPP); currently occupies a free area of the Ucayali BPP whose exploitation unit, adjacent to the community, has been granted to the timber company AQUAMAR INVESMENTS SAC that operates in the area since 2012. However, currently throughout the country there are native communities that are superimposed on BPP and obstacles that prevent its titling, which must be resolved by the Forest and Wildlife Service - SERFOR.
