Cusco. Within the framework of the agreement between the Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA) of Cusco and the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA), property titles were delivered to 6 native communities of the Cusco region, belonging to the valleys of the Urubamba and Apurímac rivers, located in the province of La Convencion.
This is an achievement that comes after more than fifteen years of waiting. The titled native communities are: Shimaa, Koribeni and Tivoriari of the Urubamba river valley. As well as Monkirenshi, Ashaninka Yevanashi and Maketi from the Apurímac River Valley.
The handover ceremony took place in the Monkirenshi native community, in the Pichari district. Representatives of the Ashaninka and Machiguenga Organization of the Apurímac River (OARA), representatives of the Machiguenga Council of the Urubamba River (COMARU), the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Cusco, the Pichari-Kimbiri Agrarian Agency, the mayors of the Pichari districts were present. and Kimbiri, the executive director of CEDIA, as well as representatives of the native communities.
