Requena. Communal authorities belonging to the Federation of Native Communities of the province of Requena (FECONAPRE), met on May 25 of this year in the "I Congress of Apus", with the aim of strengthening and coordinating projects for the benefit of community members. of the Ucayali river basin.
40 apus from the different communities of FECONAPRE participated in the activity, the Regional Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of the East (ORPIO) and the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous ORPIO (CEDIA) were also present. At the meeting, issues related to projects on the transformation of cassava, management, conservation and commercialization of aguaje, land titling, natural resource management, among others, were discussed.
CEDIA has been providing technical assistance to some communities that belong to FECONAPRE, through the project "Building durable conservation areas and strengthening the governance of the Yavari-Samiria mosaic" funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, for the physical-legal sanitation of their territories and community strengthening.
