Iquitos. The Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Loreto (DRAL) delivered the property titles to a total of seven communities that belong to the Nanay river basin and are located within the Alto Nanay district, Maynas province, Loreto region. This has been achieved thanks to the coordinated work of the DRAL and the communities through their indigenous federations (CONACUNAI and FECORANINA) and that has had the technical support of the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA). This delivery means the closing of territorial gaps of more than 66 thousand hectares titled for the region.
The delivery of titles was held on Friday, October 15 as part of the activities of the Presentation of Life Plans of the communities of the Nanay basin. The titled communities are: Atalaya Native Community, Diamante Azul Native Community, El Salvador Peasant Community, Nuevo Loreto Peasant Community, Pisco Peasant Community, San Antonio Peasant Community and San Juan de Ungurahual Native Community.

This activity is part of the project “Final impulse for the protection of the indigenous territories of the Peruvian Amazon”, financed by the Rainforest Trust that seeks to close the territorial gaps of the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon.
