Last Friday, April 21 of this year, the Executive Commission of the Management Committee (CoG) of the Sierra del Divisor National Park (PNSD) was established. The Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA) was elected as president of said CoG. The election was carried out through an assembly in the Callería district, Ucayali, in which members of the three sectors that make up the CoG participated to elect the President and Vice President of said Executive Commission.
Dani Rivera, Director of Projects and Monitoring of CEDIA, was elected President of the PNSD CoG; Carlos Puga López, representative of the Provincial Municipality of Ucayali - Contamana was selected as Vice President; María Elena Díaz, Head of the PNSD, as Technical Secretary; Ronald Steward Celis, representative of Pronaturaleza, as Coordinator of the Ucayali-Pucallpa Sector; Tilman Flores, representative of the Centro Poblado Roaboya Mestiza, as Coordinator of the Contamana Sector; and Luis Trevejo Loayza, North Regional Director of CEDIA, as Coordinator of the Requena Iquitos Sector.
The Executive Commission of the PNSD CoG is constituted for a period of two years. The CoG consists of a space for consultation where various actors, public and private, participate, on a voluntary basis, to ensure the proper functioning of this ANP and the fulfillment of the objectives for which it was created: to protect biological, geomorphological and cultural diversity. of the only mountainous region in the context of the low forest; as well as providing greater legal protection to the Isconahuas indigenous groups in situations of voluntary isolation.
From CEDIA we are very happy to be selected as presidents of the PNSD CoG and as coordinators of two sectors (Ucayali - Pucallpa and Requena - Iquitos) of the three that make it up in order to contribute to the management of this ANP and compliance of your goals.
Let us remember that the PNSD was categorized on November 8, 2015 by Supreme Decree No. 014-2015-MINAM, this achievement was the initiative of an alliance promoted by civil and public society organizations, convened by CEDIA. Then CEDIA promised to support the preparation of the Master Plan, approved on November 7, 2016 with Presidential Resolution No. 295-2016-SERNANP, and create the CoG so that the PNSD has the management instrument and space participation necessary for its proper functioning.
