Requena. Native communities in the province of Requena, in Loreto, continue their processes to accredit the members of their community vigilance committees as forest custodians, who are key to the care of forest resources in the communal lands of the Amazon region.
The 14 representatives of the vigilance committees from the native communities of Nuevo Pumacahua, Cedro Isla, Yarina del Tapiche and Yanallpa, participated in the second workshop called: “Monitoring, Control and Community Surveillance of the Forest Heritage of the Nation for the Sustainable Management of the Community Forests of the Ucayali / Tapiche Landscape ”. The workshop was organized by the Regional Management of Forestry and Wildlife Development (GERFOR) with the support of the Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA).
The activity was held in the Yarina del Tapiche Native Community, on March 4 and 5 of this year. The topics developed were the following: la legislation on forestry and wildlife, lThe functions of forest custodians, the authorities involved and allies in the control and surveillance and the use of GPS. These were in charge of the specialists of the deconcentrated office of the province of Requena, Eng. Juan Falcon Comments, Eng. Jorge del Águila Bocanegra and Eng. Sandro Vargas Ramos.
