Quillabamba. The Executor of the Administrative Contract (ECA) Ñukanchipa Sumak Sacha (Our Beautiful Forest in the Kichwa language) of the Huimeki Communal Reserve, signed its administration contract with the National Service of Protected Natural Areas (SERNANP), which It will directly benefit 10 native communities in the Putumayo province, Loreto. This happened within the framework of the X National Meeting of Executives of Administrative Contracts (ECAs) held in the city of Quillabamba, Cusco.
The agreement was signed by the head of SERNANP, Pedro Gamboa, and the president of ECA Ñukanchipa Sumak Sacha, Jackson Kenide. Also present was the president of the national association that groups ECAs (ANECAP), Fermín Chimatani
The ECAs are a mechanism of co-management between the State and the organized indigenous population that under a contract they administer a Communal Reserve. With the termination of its contract, the ECA Ñukanchipa Sumak Sacha assumes the role of conserving its ancestral territories as a life strategy.
This contract will allow you to work together on the development and implementation of the Huimeki Communal Reserve Master Plan according to their customs, traditions and respect for the collective rights of these communities. Likewise, they may develop joint surveillance and monitoring actions, as well as projects that contribute to the financial sustainability of co-management and the sustainable development of their populations.
X National Meeting of Executors of Administrative Contracts (ECAS)
This meeting was held with the objective of strengthening the ties between the State and the indigenous populations. It took place from April 22 to 24 of the present and brought together the heads of the 10 communal reserves that currently exist in the country: Yanesa, El Sira, Amarakaeri, Asháninka, Matshiguenga, Purús, Tuntanain, Chayu Nain, Airo Pai and Humeki .
Some of the issues addressed were the consolidation of co-management, bases for the process of updating the special regime for the administration of communal reserves, future work with a vision of financial sustainability, as well as the consolidation of the sectoral and territorial articulation, among others. .
