Last week the Management Committee (CoG) of the Contamana sector of the Sierra de Divisor National Park (PNSD) in the Province of Ucayali was formed. This is the second of the three sectors that will make up the Management Committee of this Protected Natural Area (ANP), which will function independently.
Through an assembly, the CoG of said sector was formed and three interest groups were determined to work on the management of the area: sustainable productive economic alternatives in the area's environment, surveillance and control, and exploitation and tourism agreements. In addition, the Provincial Municipality of Ucayali, represented by Eng. Carlos Puga, was elected coordinator of the sector. It is made up of 24 actors among communities, villages, public institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
In December 2016, at a meeting held in the city of Pucallpa, the first sector of the PNSD Management Committee corresponding to Pucallpa-Ucayali was formed. The Center for the Development of the Amazonian Indigenous (CEDIA) was elected coordinator of this sector, which is made up of 27 actors among communities, villages, public institutions and NGOs.
Between April 4 and 5 of this year, the Iquitos-Requena sector of the CdG will be formed; later, on April 18, all the coordinators of the three sectors will meet in Pucallpa to elect the Executive Committee, the president of the PNSD Management Committee and approve its regulations.
Let us remember that the PNSD was categorized on November 8, 2015 by Supreme Decree No. 014-2015-MINAM, this achievement was the initiative of an alliance promoted by civil and public society organizations, convened by CEDIA. Then CEDIA promised to support the preparation of the Master Plan, approved on November 7, 2016 with Presidential Resolution No. 295-2016-SERNANP, and create the CoG so that the PNSD has the management instrument and space participation necessary for its proper functioning.
