Requena. The National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP) delivered the resolution of recognition to the new community guards of the Curinga and Nueva Esperanza communities, in Requena, Loreto. The community members were sworn in during the ceremony held during the training they received between November 24 and 25 of the present.
The community guards also received all the basic clothing for their work such as vests, boots, machetes, GPS, among others. Community surveillance is promoted by SERNANP as part of a strategy that makes partners in the protection of the communities surrounding the protected natural areas (ANP). This allows them to contribute to the control work carried out by the park rangers of each ANP.

The activity is carried out within the framework of the project “Building durable conservation areas and strengthening governance in the Yavarí-Samiria mosaic”, funded by the Moore Foundation.
